Ian’s practice is divided between family law, both in private
and public law
cases, civil and common law matters, employment, personal injury,
professional negligence, landlord and tenant, contractual disputes and
commercial matters.
His employment practice sees him represent both employers and employees,
specialising in “whistleblowing” claims involving disclosures
made under the
Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998 in addition to the usual range of
matters in
the Employment Tribunal such as unfair dismissal, constructive dismissal
and
discrimination claims. He is known for a robust and thorough approach
to trial
advocacy and negotiation.
He practises in London and on the south coast covering the Western circuit.
He
is available to travel in appropriate cases throughout England and Wales.
Before commencing in practice Ian lectured extensively on employment
law,
agency law, business law and personal and corporate insolvency. He is
widely
experienced in commercial matters of this nature. He deals with commercial
disputes as well as consumer actions both involving consumer credit
and stand
alone matters, and landlord and tenant matters. He is also widely experienced
in personal injury and clinical negligence. He has advised extensively
on
liability and quantum on matters ranging from the most minor to the
most
serious injuries and Fatal Accident Act claims.
Ian is also able to accept instructions directly from clients under
the Public Access Scheme in civil, employment and family cases.
